In the days leading up to the Karnataka Assembly elections, Sambit Patra of the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that Siddaramaiah had gotten an expensive Hublot watch worth Rs. 70 lakhs from Vijay Eswaran of QNet Business.
In India, the Bombay High Court made some harsh remarks about the case. While rejecting the anticipatory release of five suspects in the QNet Scam, Justice Mridula Bhatkar stated, "The motto of the company 'sell more, earn more' appears very seductive and innocuous. This motto, however, is completely concealed. The company's core premise is that people can be duped. As a result, the true motto is'sell more, earn more' through duping consumers. In reality, it is a chain reaction in which a person is duped and then coached to dupe others in order to make money. Workshops are held for this aim, when study and business material is supplied with a juggling of words, promises, and dreams. Thus, deception and fraud are hidden behind the guise of e-marketing and commerce."
